Ski Trail Report

Trails Open Spring skiing conditions. Great seeing all the folks out this weekend enjoying this special time of year of skiing. We plan to be open through the week. Focusing on the east side of Sukkerbusk to North Loup for classic and the skate lanes on Skaters Waltz and North Loup for skate. After tomorrow, the Kamikaze section will be closed on Skaters, use Sap Run for the connector. Won’t freeze down tonight, surface will just glaze over most likely and be a shorter window of faster skiing tomorrow.

Temps are pleasant and fun to hear the sounds of spring including the mighty trumpeter swan and enjoy the remaining snow and transitions of seasons. Conditions have deteriorated since last week but the trails we are focusing on are very skiable with a good base of snow, albeit a bit dirty.

Grooming: Sunday evening grooming on Sukkerbusk, North Loup setting new track and Skaters Waltz and North Loup skate lanes. Friday evening grooming on Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, Twin Lakes and Skaters Waltz. Friday morning we groomed the skate lanes again and set track on North Loup to side and also set new track on Mother North Star.

Note: The driveway is in fair driving condition. Best with a vehicle with all wheel drive. We plowed the road on Wednesday evening to improve the conditions and snow continues to melt off the road.

We are closed for the season for lodging/ski packages but the trails will remain open for day skiing until a projected date of April 15th, weather and snow conditions permitting.

Nature Notes: Wildlife bit more active with the transition to spring. We have been seeing porcupines along the snowshoe trail and Roy’s Run. We have also seen hawks, owls near JibFly and North Star, fox, deer of course, pileated woodpeckers and tons of tracks. Eagle sightings near Twin Lakes return at eagle view.
