Ski Trail Report

All 64km of trail is open. Currently we have 34km of trail tracked for classic only and 15km open for skating only. All other trails are open for no track classic skiing or bushwhacking/adventure skiing with a skier made track (Lucky’s Loype) Today we packed Bootleg extension loop using Bullhead lake as an access point. Once we get a few more inches we will track Bootleg and a loop around the lake. Today we just tracked across the lake.

We have been grooming daily this week, tracking more trails for classic skiing and combing out the skate trails. Yesterday morning we tracked Loon Return, Rootin Tootin and much of Wavy Gravy. We also tried to set track on Roy’s Run but need a bit more snow and Island Lakes trail but need another inch to set track but both trails are packed and combed and open for no track classic skiing with good coverage mostly throughout. Tuesday we tracked Twin Lakes and North Loop. North Loup now groomed for skate and classic.

Tracks are set on Sap Run, JibFly, Sukkerbusk, Mother Hen, Poki Loki, Loon Return, Rootin Tootin, Wavy Gravy, Mother North Star, Twin Lakes and North Loup. Please do not skate on trails packed for classic. Skating on Skaters Waltz and the extension loops and North Loup

Early season conditions, the base is still thin watch for rough spots, areas of thin cover and unmarked obstacles but very skiable and reports from the skiers have been good. Steady dustings the past week continues to improve the conditions. Trees are frosted nicely and lots of tracks in the woods making for a great outings in the woods.

The Brant cabin is open as a warming house. The main lounge area has a Kuerig for hot chocolate/coffe/tea and there are simple snacks available to purchase on honor system. The store will be open Saturday, January 20th from 11am to 1pm.

Fat bike trails are open and groomed. Latest fat bike trail report.

Trail passes can be purchased on the products page.

Maplelag current conditions including data from the new Maplelag weather station can be found on the Weather page. Total snowfall since November 1st at 12″. Current snow depth is 3-5″ and compacted base on trails is 2-3″.

Packing and combing Roy’s Run, January 17th, 2024. We haven’t packed Roy’s like the other trails so we were not able to set a track we were happy with. It did level and comb out nice with the current snow depth we have. Just an inch or two of snow and we can set track.
Start of Roy’s Run and North Loup, January 17th, 2024. Although there is a track at the start, it only runs to the bottom of the hill. North Loup groomed skate and classic and currently the recommendation is to classic/stride North Loup. Skaters, be sure to hop in the track on the downhills!
