Ski Trail Report

All trails open. A great weekend of skiing in place! An inch or two of new snow the past 48 hours. The new snow combined with grooming the past 24 hours and grooming this week with the new dusting on top making for very nice skiing.

Friday morning we groomed all the skate trails again and reset tracks on Sap Run, JibFly and Sukkebusk in the evening. Thursday we reset track set a track across Bullhead lake and also on the edge to the access point to enter the woods for the rest of Bullhead Lake trail and Bullhead Bootleg. Thursday we set new track on Wavy Gravy to Mac’s Mess than took Island Lake back to the start. New track also set on Mother Hen. The tracks on the other trails are holding form where recently groomed and the new snow skiing in nicely.

Wednesday we renovated and reset one track on Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes. Monday we groomed on the start and finish segments of the Western trails, renovating and cutting new tracks.

A fun day on Tuesday hosting the Moorhead Nordic JV and JR High race. Chilly start to the day but susnine and no wind making for a very nice ski day.

Groomer’s choice for classic is Roy’s Run. A few rough spots there and there but overall nice skiing. Sukkerbusk always skiing well, the trail we groom the most and a good feeder trail to all the outer trails. Twin Lakes should be improved with the new snow on top of yesterday’s track setting.

Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Roys Run, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and the first and last part of Island Lake trail now tracked as well. Mac’s Mess in between Twin Lakes is not groomed but skier made track and passable. Might have to take skis off for just a little bit. North Loup has a track on the side and a skate path. The crossing on the north end of Bullhead lake trail is a bit rough. Take skis off and walk for the adventure! Lucky’s Loype and double green not groomed, skier made track. Watch for branches etc. on AMA land.

Skating on Skater Waltz, the extension of Skater Waltz, Single Green climb, Kristin’s Kutoff, Eira Bikwadinaa hill and North Loup.  Please do not skate on trails outside of the designated skate trails. Thank you!

We have been grooming and skiing since November 20th and have only missed three days of grooming since that first snowfall.

1.7″ new snowfall past 48 hours. 20″ of snowfall this season, compacted base on trail 1-4″. Snow depth in woods 3-7″
