13km of trail open. 9km tracked for classic, 4km groomed skate. 3-4″ of new snow Saturday morning. Classic track grooming Saturday afternoon on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, a short loop to the west and the easy loop of JibFly setting track. 4km of Skaters Waltz packed and combed.
The trails are very skiable and considering there wasn’t much base before this new snow, trails groomed out nice. The new snow was very dense and packed nicely. The first inch or so melted to the ground and froze making a nice base layer.
There are thin areas and recommended to not use best skis. Sukkerbusk is best bet for classic skiing. The west loop skiing fine, use caution on the downhill to Twin Lakes. A different loop with good scenery. JibFly easy loop has thinnest coverage, best to ski with “rock skis” if skiing JibFly.
Temperatures look to be below freezing all day today but if the sun is out, the snow will get sticky in the afternoon. Best to ski before 1pm but if cloudy should be nice all day! There is no trail fee to ski the remainder of the year…enjoy and Just Ski! We will most likely have the trails open Monday morning as well before warm weather returns. No more classic grooming planned, skate grooming planned Sunday evening.
