Ski Trail Report

Winter returns! Nearly a foot of snow the past two days. We are grooming on 4km of ski trail on a loop consisting of the east side of Skaters Waltz and Sukkerbusk using Sap Run to make the loop. Use the soccer field connector to access the loop for follow the grooming (not start of Sap Run). Loop can be skied either direction. Thursday morning after another round of packing, a track was set on the side. Snow is a bit soft and sticky, proper glide wax helps. Fun to have a late season blast of winter and seeing a few folks out to enjoy! We will continue grooming as long as we can. Best skiing will be in the mornings before getting soft and slow. Once the snow transforms, the snow should firm up and transition to spring conditions.

We are also grooming a 9km loop for fat biking utilizing the west Twin Lakes singletrack and ski trail. With freezing nights forecasted, we should have skiable and rideable snow until Sunday morning. Fat biking in the mornings to preserve the snow for days moving forward.

Earlier this week we have been working on the trails in the morning when the ground is frozen, cutting deadfall off the side of the trail and getting blocks to split for firewood for the saunas etc. The frost is still in the ground and will be a month or so until fully dried out. The ice on Little Sugarbush lake is over 12″ with no melting off the edges. We anticipate the ice off mid April.

Bike trails will open when the frost goes out, typically mid to late April.
