Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. A beautiful sunshine day with winter like temperates. A good group of skiers out today enjoying the first day of March and reports were good considering the recent weather. The base is hard with icy areas but very skiable. Best skiing on Sukkerbusk, North Loup and Roy’s Run for classic (Rootin Tootin fine for accessing the north trails) and Skaters Waltz and North Loup skate lane for skating. The start and open areas are very icy but once you get in the woods, skiing improves. We are grooming on the start areas as much as we can to make it more skiable. Tonight we plan to groom on Skaters Waltz.

We are keeping an eye on mid week snow!!

Friday morning we groomed the skate lanes on Skaters Waltz and North Loup and cut new track on Roy’s Run and North Loup. We will also combed out Wavy Gravy and Island lake for multi trail use for the weekend. West trails should be avoided with more icy segments on the downhills.

We continue to groom daily, focusing on the trails of Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, North Loup and Skaters Waltz.

Due to deteriorating snow conditions, in particular the lake segments, the Lotvola Cup has been canceled for this year. We didn’t anticipate this stretch of warm weather. We were really looking forward to having the race back. We will plan a date for 2026 in the Fall. Thanks everyone for the interest and support!

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Felt more like winter today with temperatures falling to the low teens by sunset. After above freezing temperatures all week, the cold temps freezing down the base hard. We did get some off and on fluff snow today which sifted into the track nicely taking of the hardness and icy edge. The trails are very skiable, best skiing on Sukkerbusk, North Loup and Roy’s Run for classic and Skaters Waltz and North Loup skate lane for skating. The start and open areas are very icy but once you get in the woods, skiing improves.

This morning we groomed the skate lanes on Skaters Waltz and North Loup and cut new track on Roy’s Run and North Loup. We will also combed out Wavy Gravy and Island lake for multi trail use for the weekend. Fat biking will be possible on WG and IL for Saturday and also Sunday morning.

We contine to groom daily, focusing on the trails of Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, North Loup and Skaters Waltz. Yesterday we reset track on Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star. MNS has some thin areas and hard ice spots but skiable and new snow filling in the tracks helping but there are sections that are rock solid ice. Use extra caution!

Fat Bike Trail Report

Fat Bike Trails are open. Freezing down this morning after a warm night. InnerWest loop will be open. There will be icy spots and use extreme caution on south facing segments Twin Lakes. Today we combed out ski trails Wavy Gravy and Island Lake for fat biking all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Access from the singletrack to make a longer loop.

To access the InnerWest loop, take Skaters Waltz and follow the skate trail until signs indicated where to turn. To just ride Twin Lakes and SukkerWest, access from the driveway. We will also have the skate trails open on Skaters Waltz extension and North Loup.

Bullhead Bootleg has filled up with snow from wind and recent storms (over a foot of new snow since last grooming) and might be a while until we can have this trail in riding condition. Even without bootleg there is 20km of trail available to ride.

Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. We’ve transitioned to spring like skiing. Icy/fast in the morning before softening and slowing late morning/early afternoon. Best time to ski generally 10am-1pm. Despite the snow loss this week, we are still skiing with folks on the trails and we are grooming select trails. Best skiing for classic is on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes and North Loup. Skate skiing on Skaters Waltz. Other trails have thin spots in the open areas and the lake portion of Bullhead Lake should be avoided due to standing water. Loon Return should also be avoided. Otherwise, use a little extra caution and trails are very skiable.

We’ve transitioned to spring like skiing. Icy/fast in the morning before softening and slowing late morning/early afternoon. Best time to ski generally 11am-1pm but Tuesday was earlier due to warmer than expected temperatures.

Today we groomed Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes and Skaters Waltz in the morning and back out in the evening again setting a new track on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes. Monday and Tuesday morning grooming on Skaters Waltz, Sap Run, Sukkerbusk, Bullhead Lake trail and Twin Lakes. We are focusing on these trails this week and if conditions are right, will groom a few more trails Friday.

Although we have a good base of snow, the present of dirt in the snowpack facilitating the melting. However, as long as we keep freezing down at nights should have skiing available this week.
