Bike Trail

Mountain Bike Trail Report

Trails are open. Track is dry/ tacky and rolling great. A nice weekend of riding in place.

This week we were back on trail tuning, doing dirt work and clearing out trail with the leaf blowers. Bullhead Bootleg loop cleared on Monday and much of the inner segments on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We are working mostly on the race course now for the Laddies Loppet mountain bike weekend over Labor Day weekend.  Signs of fall with leaves slowly changing…one of the best times of year to ride the next 6-8 weeks! 

Great week hosting the local HS MTB Team “Wolves” training camp earlier this month. Fun energy and nice job to kids and coaches! 

We are looking forward to the 34th Laddies Loppet  which is part of the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series (MMBS)!! 

Nice job to all the riders that completed the LagChilada challengethis year! The opportunity to complete the challenge is available every day the trails are open during the dirt season.

We always try to clear any new deadfall right away but limbs, branches etc. can fall down at any time.  If you encounter any trail issues, please text Jay at 218-849-7669 or if any other trail questions.

Parking across from Brant cabin. The Brant cabin is also available for a changing area and bathrooms and there are also maps located in the Brant.

Summer trail pass to help offset operating and maintenance expenses. We are a self funded/maintained trail system and happy to share our hand built classic old style singletrack trails! Thank you, always great seeing folks out and we appreciate the support!

Ski Trail

Trail Report

A dry week with late summer weather in place. Early Fall conditions evident, a few leaves changing already and falling to the forest floor. Has been dry with no recent rainfall since last week. We have been working on the trails clearing deadfall but mostly working on the bike course in preparation of the Laddies Loppet mountain bike race over Labor Day weekend. 

The woods are very lush and green thanks to abundant moisture this spring and summer. Many wildflowers, mushrooms, lichen etc. popping up each week. We continue mowing on the ski trails as we constantly clear trees falling from the wind events. We have also started doing dirt work on the ski trail, smoothing out rough areas and improving rough spots. We will continue this work all through the summer and fall.         

Total rainfall this month at 3.2″. Rainfall the month of July at 5.71″. Total rainfall in June at 7.56″. It was also a very wet month of May with right around 8″ of rain. Since January 1st, we have received almost 27″ of rain.            

The rain has been welcomed with the relatively dry conditions the previous 6 months and to keep the soil damp and moist for the trees we planted this spring. The lake, ponds, sloughs and water tables are at normal levels now.

Summer ski trail work will include fixing rutted areas, working on drainage and removing rocks and filling in low spots in between almost daily mowing when not raining.

Trails are open. We avoided all the rain yesterday and the track remains dry and tacky and rolling great. Should be a great weekend of riding!

Trail Report

Pleasant late summer weather in place with early Fall conditions, a few leaves changing already and falling to the forest floor. Has been dry with no recent rainfall since last week. We have been working on the trails clearing deadfall but mostly working on the bike course in preparation of the Laddies Loppet mountain bike race over Labor Day weekend.

We continue mowing on the ski trails as we constantly clear trees falling from the wind event. We have also started doing dirt work on the ski trail, smoothing out rough areas and improving rough spots.
