Trail Report

A beautiful day on the trails. Skiing was fantastic mid-winterlike in the morning up until 11am with dry, fast snow then conditions turned slower with warm temps and softening. Slowly starting to glaze over late afternoon.  Moosejaw folks skiing all day, enjoying the mild temps and beautiful sunshine. Fresh grooming last night on Sukkerbusk, Rootin Tootin and Wavy Gravy. Classic skiing early on these trails was as good as it gets. Grooming tonight planned for Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, Skaters Waltz and possibly one other double track classic trail. Skiing will be fast early then will soften again with warmer temps late morning….spring skiing conditions!!

Trail Report

As good as it gets for March skiing. Dry, fresh powder snow, temps in the teens, light winds and sunshine.  New grooming on Bullhead lake trail, Double Green and Kristin’s Kutoff this Friday morning.  Most of the trail system has been groomed the past three days since the snow events on Monday and Tuesday that left 8″ of fresh snow. Grooming planned tonight on Wavy Gravy and Rootin Tootin. Expect mostly dry snow skiing (mid-winterlike) today and the morning tomorrow and then forecasted warm temps should soften the snow and make for slower skiing before clooling down and getting faster again. Grooming planned for Saturday night, bringing up drier snow for fresh skiing Sunday morning. The best skiing will for sure be in the mornings as we transition to Springlike conditions unless you just like being in the woods, enjoying snow then it will be great all day!! Warm weather forecasted for an extended period of time but there is a nice base on the trails that we plan on grooming select trails as long as possible (Hoping for April 1st!!).

Trail Report

A nice winter storm on Tuesday. Around 8″ of fresh snow. Wind kicked in big time in the evening with gusts reported up to 50 mph in the area!! There was some drifting in the open areas, naturally, but the wind has settled down Wednesday morning sun is out and a beautiful day on tap.  Not often school is canceled two days in a row!! Grooming yesterday on Skaters Waltz and North Loup for skating and tracks set on Sap Run, Mother Hen, JibFly, Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes. These trails were groomed 3-4 times, packing the snow as it fell. We will groom the above trails again today and skiing should be very nice this afternoon and rest of the week. The other trails we will leave so on Saturday and Sunday when it warms up, we can pull up the fresh snow and have some nice skiing for Saturday and Sunday morning skiing. Either way, should be some fantastic skiing rest of the week on through the weekend. Expect soft and slow conditions when it warms up and the new snow gets “sticky” but once the snow transforms, good spring skiing should be on tap for a few days.
