With calm conditions and temps in the single digits, Little Sugurbush, (lake Maplelag sits next to) froze over entirely last night, November 11th, 2013. This is the earliest November freeze since 1993 and ranks in the top fifteen of earliest freeze overs since 1893, according to local record keeping. More ice photos.
With the majority of leaves falling from the trees the past week, we have begun clearing leaves off the main ski trails. Clearing leaves allows the ground to cool down faster, set in frost and able to ski on a few inches of snow on the grassy surface.

Snow falling both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Quickly melting off by the afternoon. However, always exciting to see the first snowfall of the year!
