Fat Bike Trail Report

Fat Bike Trails are open. Sunshine on Saturday with good temps for riding. The entire FatLagChilada loop is rideable and rolling good. Temperatures have been staying well below freezing keeping the base firm and hard. Just a few flakes of lingering flurries this week. The inner loops have been groomed, the outer loops have been rider packed but rolling nice.

Use extra caution on the low spots and corners for any icy spots but all things considered, riding is good! The first half of Twin Lakes singletrack is rocky and rooty with the low snow cover. Tuesday we groomed the ski trail access to the start of Hudson’s Hula to have option to bypass the first half of Twin Lakes. The ice on Bullhead lake crossing is 10-12″ and solid on the edges.

With the low snow cover, Skaters Waltz extension and North Loup are also open to fat biking.

The Inner East loops starts on Skaters Waltz to the right and follows along the side dipping into singletrack before going across Bullhead lake to access the Bootleg singletrack loop. Back across the lake to skaters waltz and more singletrack before crossing the road and left in to Maplelag. Signs are out marking the Fat Bike trail and the “FatLagChilada” loop which is all the groomed fat bike trails. The west or Twin Lakes loop can be accessed from the Maplelag driveway including the Sukkerwest loop which is at the end of the Maplelag driveway.

Bullhead lake riding at sunset, February 15th, 2024. Yes there are some icy spots but there is a very rideable surface all the way across. We have been “making” ice the past week or so and there is over a foot of good solid ice.
