Trail Report

3″ of light fluffy snow falling early this morning. Temps in the teens, light winds, and solid and firm tracks underneath making for great skiing on this Presidents Day. Clearing in the afternoon with beautiful sunshine and late light.  A quick check ski early this morning found excellent ski skating conditions. Tracks gliding nicely as well and reports from skiers making first runs on North Loup as “magical, snow just floated over my skis on the downhills”. We decided to let the morning skiers ski in the fresh fluff and held off on grooming. We are planning on grooming a good portion of the trail system this evening. The stiff wind yesterday brought down leaves and other organic matter which will get mixed in when grooming, another reason to let the fresh snow stand as is.

Compacted base 8-10″. Snow depth in woods 1-2 feet. 100% open on 64km. 57 km tracked for classic, 13km groomed for skating.   Skaters Waltz/ extension, Suicide Hill and North Loup groomed for skating.  There is also a track set on North Loup for classic.

Total snowfall  this season has been 72″.  The trails are open for day skiing and the current fee is $15 to use the trails for the day.
