Happy Martin Luther King Day! Trails are open for skiing. Another chilly day on tap but folks are out skiing and conditions are nice in the woods with protection from any wind. Skiing has improved after the snowfall on Friday evening, snow earlier in the week and daily grooming going back nine days.
Great seeing people out this past weekend despite the cooler weather. Saturday we groomed on 40km of trail, mostly rollpacking and setting track on Sukkerbusk, JibFly, and Sap Run, Sunday we set new track on Sap Run, JibFly, Sukkerbusk and also set track on Mother Hen, Poki Loki and Mother North Star. Skaters Waltz roll combed.
Please do not skate on trails packed for classic. Skating on Skaters Waltz and the extension loops and North Loup.
The outer trails are packed but no track set. Skier made track on Roy’s Run and Lucky’s Loype. This week we hope to set track on one of the western trails and possibly Roy’s Run, conditions allowing. We also plan to pack out Bullhead Bootleg loop using the lake crossing for a new option to access Bootleg and bypass the marshy areas.
The Brant cabin is open as a warming house. The main lounge area has a Kuerig for hot chocolate/coffe/tea and there are simple snacks available to purchase on honor system.
Early season conditions, watch for rough spots, areas of thin cover and unmarked obstacles but very skiable and reports from the skiers have been good. Trees are frosted nicely and lots of tracks in the woods making for a great outings in the woods.
Fat bike trails are open and groomed. Latest fat bike trail report.
Trail passes can be purchased on the products page.
Maplelag current conditions including data from the new Maplelag weather station can be found on the Weather page. Total snowfall since November 1st at 12″. Current snow depth is 3-5″ and compacted base on trails is 2-3″.
