Woods and trails are drying out after a very wet Tuesday that saw 3.5″ of rain. This equals more than half of our total rainfall in June which is now at 5.60″. Overall June has been very nice. Temperatures have been pleasant, a bit cooler for this time of year and average rainfall. The woods are very lush and green thanks to abundant moisture in the spring. Many wildflowers popping up each week. We have startedt mowing on the ski trails as we continually clear deadfall and blow downs from the wind events this spring.
It was a very wet month of May with right around 8″ of rain. Since January 1st, we have received almost 13″ of rain.
The rain has been welcomed with the relatively dry conditions the previous 6 months and to keep the soil damp and moist for the trees we planted this spring. The lake, ponds, sloughs and water tables are pretty much at normal levels now.
Summer ski trail work will include fixing rutted areas, working on drainage and removing rocks and filling in low spots in between almost daily mowing when not raining.
