A great Presidents weekend of skiing. Did get a bit warmer Sunday but plenty of snow for great skiing. Best skiing was before noon and lot of folks out before the big Scan Smorg knocking out some k’s. We groomed about 56km of trail early Friday morning, working in the 2″ of new snow that fell Tuesday and Wednesday. We set new track on one side of the double track trails. Saturday evening new tracks set on Wavy Gravy, Twin Lakes, Rootin Tootin, Sukkerbusk and Mother North Star. All skate trails groomed as well. Sunday morning grooming on Skaters Waltz, Mother Hen and Sukkerbusk. Little bit faster skiing on Sunday morning but light snow falling Sunday afternoon taking off the edge. As of 8:30 pm, 3-4″ of new snow has fallen. We groomed key areas late afternoon and will be back out in the morning grooming the new snow.
Ski conditions rated good to excellent (thanks for your reports, we appreciate it!). Ski video from North Loup late Monday afternoon
All 64km of trail open with track set on 56km of trail and 15km groomed for skating. 4km of snowshoe trail open. Ice skating rink in very good condition.
Compacted base on trail 2-6″. Snow depth in the woods 6-14″. New snowfall this week around 4″. Total snowfall this season around 23″. Although this is a low snow year, we spend every dry day outside the winter season preparing the trails to be in the best condition possible so we can have good skiing on minimal snow and the newer grooming equipment does a nice job working with the snow to make for better skiing.
