Trails are open. A great day on the trails! Started out beautiful with a crisp and clear morning with no wind. Around 6″ of new snow the past 24 hours. Today we reset most of the double track trails and also packed and set track on Island Lake, Wavy Gravy and Roy’s Run trails. We also set a track on North Loup for classic and skate skiing. A great weekend of skiing on tap!
Yesterday we spent most of the morning packing the new snow as it was falling. The afternoon we combed out the skate lanes and set track on the double track classic trails. The new snow on top of the existing base making for really nice skiing and mid winter conditions on much of the trail system.
We had a great day on Tuesday of this week hosting the 30th annual Dl Invite Nordic Ski Meet. Nearly 400 skiers from northern, western and central Minnesota convened at Maplelag as Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Jr High skiers competed on Skaters Waltz in skate races.
Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and the first and last part of Island Lake trail now tracked as well. Use caution on the hills.
Skating on Skater Waltz, the extension of Skater Waltz and North Loup. Note: North Loup still has some rough areas on the downhills, use extra caution.
Please do not skate on trails outside of the designated skate trails. Thank you!
We have been grooming and skiing since November 20th. 18″ of snowfall this season, compacted base on trail 3-5″. Snow depth in woods 6-10″
Season passes can be purchased here.
