Ski Trail Report

Trails are open. Great skiing for late February. Very light snow falling this morning, no measurable accumulation . We are gradually warming up after a few brisk days but the skiing has been about as good as it gets, albeit a bit slower with the dry abrasive snow. Despite the cold weather, folks have been out skiing and we continue to groom. Thursday grooming planned on Wavy Gravy, Island Lake, Roy’s Run and North Loup with new tracks to be set.

Today reset track on JibFly, Mother Hen, Sap Run and cleaned up the start area. Yesterday track was reset on Loon Return, Sukkerbusk, Twin Lakes, Bullhead/Bootleg Lake trail, Kristins Kutoff, Mother North Star to Sap Run back to trailhead. We also cleaned up the short section of Mother North Star where it shares with the fat bike trail.

We look to warm up nicely into the weekend with above freezing temperatures possible Sunday-Wednesday. We have have a good base of snow, a little dirty from strong winds, but as long as keeps freezing at nights, should be able to have spring like conditions. Faster in the morning before softening in the afternoon. If you plan to ski next week, we ask people try to ski before 1pm so we can better preserve the snow and makes it easier for grooming and best conditions possible moving forward.

We are excited to announce the return of Lotvola Cup on March 2nd, 2025. Click here for details.

Groomer’s Picks for Wedneday:Bullhead Bootleg Lake trail and JibFly. Sap Run always a good trail to ski for first time visitors to Maplelag and end the day with. JibFly a good beginner trail as well.  Skate skiing slower today with coating of frost snow but deck is firm.

Classic only skiing on trails with machine set tracks: Sukkerbusk, Sap Run, JibFly, Mother Hen, Rootin Tootin, Mother North Star and Loon Return. Roys Run, Twin Lakes, Wavy Gravy and Island Lake. Lucky’s Loype and double green not groomed, skier made track. Watch for branches etc. on AMA land but recommended to avoid .

Skating on Skater Waltz, the extension of Skater Waltz, Single Green climb, Kristin’s Kutoff, Eira Bikwadinaa hill and North Loup.  Please do not skate on trails outside of the designated skate trails. Thank you!

We have been grooming and skiing since November 20th and have only missed five days of grooming since that first snowfall.

Trace new snowfall past 24 hours. 11″ snow past 10 days. 39″ of snowfall this season, compacted base on trail 4-7″. Snow depth in woods 8-28″
